DSI Absorbable Haemostatic Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose used in surgical practice as an additional means to stop capillary, venous, and minor arterial bleeding. DSI ORC has a lightweight, layered structure which “melts” into bleeding tissue creating a gel form hemostasis clot. DSI ORC has low pH, which changes the structure of albumin and blood globulin, which contributes to the onset of hemostasis. Glucose copolymers undergo hydrolysis and are completely absorbed after 7-14 days under the influence of body fluids. Antibacterial properties are offered by DSI ORC post-operative antibacterial protection. Hemostatic gauze contains a bactericide that is effective against a broad spectrum of gram+ and gram- organisms, as well as antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as MRSA, VRE, PSRP, and MRSA.
