Aegis Lifesciences Surgi-ORC Knit is a plant-based, absorbable hemostatic sponge composed of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), designed for managing capillary, venous, and minor arterial bleeding in dental surgical procedures. Its flexible knit structure allows precise adaptation to oral tissues, especially in irregular or confined areas such as extraction sites, bone grafting, or flap surgeries. When applied dry to a bleeding surface, it rapidly absorbs blood and forms a gelatinous matrix that supports platelet adhesion and clot formation, independent of the body’s coagulation mechanism.
Hemostasis is typically achieved within 3 to 4 minutes. The material is fully absorbed within 7 to 14 days and does not require removal, minimizing patient discomfort and simplifying post-operative care. Its low pH also helps create a bactericidal environment at the application site. Surgi-ORC® Knit can be trimmed without fraying, sutured if needed, or packed gently into surgical sites, making it a reliable solution for both general and implant-focused oral surgery.
